about

This EP was composed and compiled during a dark period in which every life experience is filtered through a particular mindset. Mournful Motown songs carry a new emotional weight; even The Beatles contain layers more tragic than first perceived. Culture is repurposed to serve as a backdrop affirming this prevailing mood. Bouts of mania and the occasional light-hearted interlude are short-lived breaks in the storm. Inserting samples from Mozart’s Requiem in the triptych title track is a more playful way of referencing how sorrow can be sought out to the point of melodrama. The final track, "New Dawn, New Day" serves as the mundane triumph of finally being able to move on.
